​​The AMC 8 Math Competition is a standalone competition that introduces students to a different kind of mathematical problem-solving than is usually seen in school curricula.​ The AMC 8 Math test has 25 multiple choice questions and can be taken by students up to 8th grade.

To help a student prepare for the AMC 8, I would first have the student take an IXL Diagnostic test to see their Grade Level in Math and understand their strengths and weaknesses. Once we know these, we can help the student build up their skills toward doing well in class and then in competitions.

Once a student has a solid foundation in their grade-level Math, they can then practice various past AMC 8 Math competition problems. Practicing these problems over time will help them to be stronger in Math and more prepared for the AMC 8 Math competition.
