It took me awhile as a Math Tutor to realize that I don't need to avoid the parents of my Math students. The best scenario for a student is to have a team-effort of parents and the Math tutor. Students will confide in their parents often and that information can be invaluable to helping the Math tutor know what to tweak to really reach the student.

What can also happen is the student can confide in the tutor which can also help the student as the tutor can educate the parent if they may be too controlling and to back off some. Lets face it. My kids are out of College but it is hard to not want to control your kids and let go a bit.

So with a team approach, the Math tutor learns, the parent learns, and the Math student gets the most benefit possible! This is what I've come to believe is the best scenario!
